ABOUT

What is ANZA?
The Australian and New Zealand Association (ANZA) seeks to bring together Australians and New Zealanders now living in KwaZulu-Natal.  The Association also welcomes new members who have resided in Australia or New Zealand for at least five years, or who have seen active service.  Husbands or wives of any of the above are also welcomed into the Association, as are persons who have families resident in New Zealand or Australia.

Founded in 1934, ANZA (KwaZula-Natal) has been a source of fellowship for many over the years.  Although other Associations were set up in Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, the Durban association in KwaZulu-Natal is the only one still in existence in South Africa.

ANZA concentrates on organising regular functions over the course of the year in order to raise funds.  Whether it is a fun tennis day, a potjiekos competition, a beer-fest, wine tasting, a car rally, a hangi or celebrating our national days (ANZAC day, Waitangi and Australia day), ANZA brings together people who have decided to call South Africa home.

A portion of the funds raised by ANZA are donated annually to a nominated charity.  This is ANZA’s way of giving back to a community that has given so much to its members – a way of saying thank-you for enabling us to regard South Africa as home.

ANZA also donates a sum of money annually towards a bursary to a deserving student at the George Campbell Technical High School.  This is done in the name of the founder of ANZA and is known as the Roy Faulks Bursary.  The student is nominated by the school - one who has excelled in both academic work and promotes the well being of the school.

A newsletter is sent out on a regular basis to keep members informed of events.  It is also a chance for members to share news, and for past members to stay in touch.

A Committee meets every month to ensure the smooth running and organisation of the ANZA.

Committee members actively seek new members to join the Association and anyone interested are invited to please phone the Honorary Secretary, Glenda Dee at 031 765 2090  or 078 174 2529 or email: eglendadee@gmail.com
